A worldwide known company architects and manages Data Centres, Cloud and Networking centres at an enterprise level. A vacancy has arisen for Data Centre Technician to be involved in the installation and deployment of Linux, Windows, WAN and LAN systems. This is not a senior role and the client is highly committed to training, so you do not necessarily need all the skills.
  
•         Installation and maintenance of servers Linux and Windows
•         React , fault log and fix requests
•         Racking of routers, switches, and network hardware
•         Troubleshoot the hardware
•         Carrying out scheduled and impromptu remote hands requests
•         Monitor active servers
•         Report data centre power and light faults
•         Configuring customer solutions working with the Deployment Team
•         Testing new Operating Systems and hardware with the Engineering Team
•         For immediately unresolvable faults, escalate to various internal teams
•         Work closely with 3rd party service providers
•         Travel between various Data Centres, albeit within a relatively short distance of each other
•         Be a point of contact for customers and assist with escorting and resolving issues related to their co-location environment
•         Be part of an on-call rota and shift work
 
Essential experience, Skills and Qualifications:
 
•         To be able to work with little or minimal supervision, while part of a team;
•         Experience in troubleshooting and installing, networking, operating systems and software
•         A general understanding of networking
•         To be able to work in a customer focused environment
•         Excellent technical skills
•         Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or when on call
•         Working in line with Best Practice in complex environments and within tight time constraints
•         Management of effective and timely problem resolution.
•         Initial understanding of customers systems and response times based upon information held for each customer
•         Ability to adapt and influence in a rapidly changing environment
•         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•         Ability to develop and build relationships
 
As well as the salary there is a 15% shift allowance uplift and an attractive package.
